Inktober with ATCs

Inktober with ATCs

It seems liked I blinked and the summer flew by. Not only that, it is October.

How on earth did that happen?

Aside from the fun of the various holidays coming up, October marks a month of art called “Inktober”.

What is Inktober?

Inktober is a worldwide art challenge that takes place every October. Artists of all skill levels participate by creating ink drawings and sharing them on social media with the hashtag . It’s a great way to improve your drawing skills, be part of a supportive community, and showcase your work to a wider audience.

Joining art challenges can be a lot of fun, but I don’t like to put too much pressure on myself. I learned a long time ago, that it just isn’t worth it. Especially with my art. Go with the flow and adjust when necessary. It is support to spark joy after all.

As far as Inktober goes, I have decided to just go with the ATC format and ink everything in miniature.

What will I Draw?

I will definitely depend on Pinterest to give me some inspiration. There are some drawing skills that I really want to tackle , so this is my chance.

Why Keep it Tiny?

The benefits of keeping it small:

  • Each card can have a different theme.
  • They are quick to finish.
  • Colour can be added, or not.

Theme Ideas

Here are just a few things that I am thinking with kick start me and keep me going for the month:

  • Zentangle pattern! Great in black and white.
  • Minimalist drawing. Simplifying a drawing to the least number of lines while still being able to see what it is.
  • Lettering. I would love to explore different styles of lettering.
  • Botanical outlines.
  • Halloween … of course.

Progress So Far

So far I have complete 5 days of Inktober. Yay, go me!

Will I keep it up for the rest of the month? Hmmm, we will see.

The beauty of keeping it small is that I can quickly catch up if I miss a few days. Shhhhh, that is me being flexible and going with the flow.

Happy Drawing.
