Art Prompts Inspired by Canada
A book for people who want to make things but don’t know where to start. Or people who do know where to start, but like being surprised or challenged. Either way, you’re welcome here.
This is a collection of 25 richly developed art prompts, each one inspired by something distinctly Canadian. Inukshuks, polar bears, the northern lights, and the way the country swings 80 degrees between January and July. That kind of thing.
Every prompt comes with:
- Context – so you actually learn something
- Detailed creative instructions – so you’re not staring at a blank page
- A surprising fact – because Canada is weirder than you think, and
- Three additional activities that spin the prompt in new directions
- That’s 125 creative starting points across five sections.
No skill level required. No art degree. No fancy supplies.
Who is it for?
This book is for anyone who’s ever saizd “I’m not creative” and meant it. It’s for parents looking for something to do with their kids that doesn’t involve a screen. It’s for teachers who want a prompt that actually goes somewhere. It’s for the person who used to draw all the time and stopped. And it’s for the person who never started.
I volunteer as an art teacher for disabled and neurodiverse adults, and the people I work with taught me something important: the best art happens when you stop worrying about whether it’s good. This book is built on that idea.
Have a Look
Here’s a look at what’s inside. The watercolour and ink illustrations are all mine, the layout is designed to feel like something you want to pick up and use, not put on a shelf.
Where We Stand
The writing is done. The illustrations are done. I’m in the final stages of layout and production. When it’s ready, I want you to be the first to know.
Drop your email, and I’ll let you know when the book launches. No spam, no fluff. You’ll hear from me when there’s something worth hearing about.
