Creating Whimsical Art

Something I have always admired are artists ability to create whimsical characters and illustrations. To add fun effortless details seems so far from my abilities.

So, off to pinterest I went to see what was on display.

There was so much fun to see!

My strategy was to deconstruct the image to see what all the parts were.

  • What shapes do I see?
  • What colours are used?
  • What mediums are used?

Once I thought I understood, I pulled out my equivalent tools and took a stab at recreating what I saw. If I have done it right, you will recognize these creations from deep down the Pinterest rabbit hole.

I can’t tell you how much I have learned doing this. Now I can easily see the separate elements of an image. It has helped me immensely to evolve and develop my own style.
